Just watched a weekly advertising program put on by the loco building industry. They were showing the homes that these builders are trying to sell. One builders home looked fabulous with the important extras he includes in all of his homes such as Corrion counter tops and engineered floor and roof joists. Oh and lets not forget the flashing free exteriors, and complementary crack (visible on TV) running vertically from the bottom of a front window. As cheaply as the home is priced, and from what is visibly lacking, one can only assume that there is much much more lacking in the construction of the structures envelope, such as a moisture plane behind the stucco and faux stone on the front of the house, as well as all of the other things that is consistently talked about on this web site. What good is the counter top upgrades and the engineered joists going to do the home owner when they have moisture and mold issues? Maybe they can trade those fabulous counter tops for mold abatement. (NOT!) It is a crying shame that the idea of quality has been eroded so much over the years that the bar for quality is now set so low that cr@p is now the standard.  |
